On Saturday, March 17, 532 women gathered in Taitung, Taiwan to participate in the first Liv Iron Girl women’s triathlon and duathlon. Held in conjunction with the 5150 Taitung Triathlon, the event aimed to welcome more women into the sport and encourage greater female participation in triathlon.
The Liv Iron Girl Triathlon drew participants from all over the world, including Liv global sponsored triathlete Shirin Gerami. Gerami, the first woman to represent Iran at the ITU and Ironman World Championships, came in second overall and finished first in her age group aboard the Liv Avow Advanced Pro. Liv Taiwan triathlete Huang Yu Yan finished first overall.
As the title sponsor of the race, Liv employees and dealers came out in force, not only to support the event but also to compete. Liv’s crew accounted for just over 17 percent of registered racers between the triathlon, duathlon, and relay with 21 of those women finishing in the top ten in their age classifications. Leading the charge was Liv and Giant’s Chief Branding Officer Phoebe Liu, who finished third in her age group.
