What are some of your favorite places to ride locally? | My home-trails in the “Berner Jura” are my favorites. I have been living in Biel for two years and my training still feels like I am in a training camp, because I always can explore new trails. There is an infinite number of trails. I claim that if you can ride your bike fast here, you can do it anywhere in the world. Nowhere else are rocks as slippery as they are here after it rains! |
What is your specialty? | Mountain Bike Cross Country Rider |
My Achievements |
|
What is your favorite event on your calendar? | In so many World Cup races I find passages which correspond to my strengths and which are so much fun to ride. That is the reason why it is so hard to decide one favorite event. Vallnord (AND), Lenzerheide (SUI), Nové Město (CZE) and Val di Sole (ITA) definitely are on top of my list, even though I haven’t ridden on many other World Cup courses so far. It is the variety that makes them interesting for me. |
What's your favorite Liv bike? | Pique Advanced Pro because it is always an adventure to be on this bike. |
What is your favorite Liv gear? | My Liv Factory winter hat. I'm always proudly wearing it! |
Why do you ride? | It makes me feel fast, fit, free and happy. The sport is social, but if I have enough of it and need a break, I can go on a solo ride and daydream. Mountain biking is so much fun! I like to compete with others in races because I am very ambitious. |
When did you first realize you loved cycling? | When I won my first mountain bike race at the age of 5, I was proud of myself and thought I was good at it. So I kept going. Later I found out that I won because I was the only girl who had participated in that race. |
Is there a woman in your life who has played an important role in your cycling journey? | My mother - we never had a car and so she always had to do the weekly shopping by bicycle. At that time, we lived on the ski slope, so it was a great achievement that she made it home again with all the groceries, my two brothers and me. She taught me to follow my dreams, to be strong, and she believed in me. |
What do you wish you knew when you were starting out as a cyclist? | I was lucky that I knew some important advice when I started. That was to just do what you love and don’t do it because someone wants you to do it, do it for yourself! |
Who inspires you? | Many different people inspire me in many different ways. Mainly I admire people who chase their dreams and not only dream about them. People who have a fire for something and show that they have fun doing what they are doing. People like Marlen Reusser, Franziska Schönbächler, and Camille Balanche inspire me. |
What does the future of cycling look like to you? | It looks like an empty page that could be filled with many more exciting stories. |
How do you hope to have an impact on the next generation of cyclists? | I hope I can infect as many people as possible with the mountain bike virus. I tell you it is one of the best viruses! |
What have been the biggest barriers for you so far in your cycling journey, and how have you navigated/ overcome them? | As I didn’t find a team that suited me last season, I thought it would be the end of my cycling career. Then I told myself, that I only needed a bike, fun and good people around to be able to ride fast. It was the best season for me so far! I have learned that the most important thing is to have people and an environment around you who are good for you, believe in your potential, and pursue the same dreams. Now I am super happy to join the Liv Factory Racing team. Thanks Liv for your confidence and I am really looking forward to our journey together! |
