Liv AlUla Jayco athlete Letizia Paternoster had a spectacular debut at the Dwars door Vlaanderen in Belgium, with an impressive sprint out from the chasing pack, which ultimately secured her a third-place finish.
The race unfolded over a challenging course spanning 129.9km, featuring seven cobblestone sections and nine climbs, with Waregem serving as both the starting and finishing point for the Dwars door Vlaanderen. However, the event was briefly neutralized and then shortened, due to a team car accident on the course ahead, holding back most of the anticipated drama to unfold toward the finish line.
As the peloton separated with 30 kilometers to go a small pack formed at the front, Marianne Vos and Shirin van Anrooij, broke away to claim the top two positions followed by six riders that began to make chase. In the final seconds, Paternoster was able to showcase her remarkable sprinting capabilities, outpacing all others and claiming her podium spot aboard her team EnviLiv Advanced SL.
Reflecting on her performance, Paternoster reported, "I’m happy with my shape and now I’m looking forward to the Tour of Flanders. I want to thank the whole team; you are amazing and I want to take a win for you in the next races.”
