Gordon Doubles Up at the Deschutes Brewery Cup Weekend.
Serena Gordon of the Liv Co-Factory Off-Road Team continued her cyclocross season this weekend with a double-header at the Deschutes Brewery Cup in Bend, OR, taking the top step of the podium both Saturday and Sunday. The Deschutes Brewery Cup marks stop five and six in the eight-race Cross Crusade Series, the largest cyclocross series in the country.
Racers were met with warm autumnal weather and a dry, dusty course that snaked its way around the Deschutes Brewery and Old Mill District. Rail-road tie stair case, long sand section and a loose, sketchy descent made for a fun and technical race.
Both Saturday and Sunday, Gordon was able to distance herself from her competitors by the end of the first lap and steadily grow her lead as the race continued finding herself mixing it up with the men’s field who started ahead of the women’s race.
Great crowds lined the course this weekend, and were particularly wild on Sunday as racers donned costumes in celebration of Halloween. Gordon baffled onlookers dressed as her teammate, Carl Decker, who was racing on the same course at the same time. Ironically, both the real Carl Decker and Gordon dressed as Carl Decker took the win in their respective race categories, Pro Men and Pro Women.
“Racing at home amongst our amazing cycling community is a real treat. To take the double win is icing on the cake. The Brava SLR took on the varying terrain with confidence and my Zip 303/Schwalbe X-One set-up proved to be on-point.”
Gordon, who leads the series, heads to Woodburn, OR next Sunday for the seventh race in the Cross Crusade Series.
