I am a bike commuter and cycling advocate. I enjoy being a Liv Ambassador because I get the unique opportunity to advocate for women who want to ride bicycles. I care about this because it is more times than not women who lack the self-efficacy to ride. Boys are more often encouraged to ride bikes, play sports, and take risks. From a young age, it seems women write off physical activity because of an (incorrect) belief that she CANNOT be successful doing it. Something I enjoy about bicycle advocacy is helping novice riders break down barriers and build up confidence. Going on a 5-mile ride through a residential neighborhood, for example, can be exhilarating and empowering for a novice rider. Additionally, I find helping riders identify a safe bicycling route to work or school to be very rewarding. Finally, I believe in the Liv women’s specific design. Women are not small men! We have different body geometry and riding styles than men. I find it very easy to support a company who is building bicycles for women and encouraging them to ride. Being a Liv Ambassador allows me to advocate for female riders of all ages and ability levels in my community.
