The new Avow Advanced SL maintains the same exceptional aero efficiency as the previous Avow Advanced Pro, despite the performance shift from rim to disc brakes.
This consistency is achieved through our ongoing commitment to AeroSystem Shaping Technology, which has been applied to every tube shape and junction to minimize drag and optimize efficiency.
AeroSystem Shaping Technology combines cutting-edge Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis with wind-tunnel testing, ensuring the frameset performs as a cohesive, high-performance unit. Each section of the frameset is meticulously engineered to reduce drag and manage airflow across all relevant yaw angles, fine-tuning the frameset’s aerodynamic capabilities.
To ensure the utmost precision, we use wind-tunnel testing with a dynamic mannequin that features anatomically correct, articulating legs. This setup allows us to measure pressure and friction drag while simulating the exact interaction between the rider and the bike, eliminating variables such as body position and pedaling cadence, and ensuring consistent, reliable results.
Key updates to the new Avow include modified truncated ellipse shaping on the head tube, down tube, fork, and seatpost. Additionally, the integration of disc brakes prompted a redesign of the frame and fork, incorporating new tubing shapes that integrate the front and rear calipers, further minimizing drag.
