Seely, who earlier this summer won an ESPY award from ESPN as the Best Female Athlete with a Disability, has earned a string of successes over the past year. In 2018 she was a Paralympic gold medalist and she also won her third world championship in Australia. She has also won seven consecutive ITU World Paratriathlon Series races, a streak that dates back to last year.
Racing with her Avow Advanced Pro bike in Lausanne, Seely put in another top performance to win the silver at this year’s World Championships in the PTS2 category. The course featured a 750-meter swim in Lake Geneva followed by a 20km bike event and 5km run.
The American trailed Fran Brown of Great Britain heading into the run, and though Seely closed the gap to make things exciting, she came up just short, finishing second less than a minute behind Brown to take the silver medal.
