The reigning U23 cyclo-cross world champion, Inge van der Heijden, grabbed her first win of the CX season in Rucphen on Sunday, showing strong form ahead of two more World Cup races and World Championships.
CCC-Liv teammate and former CX national and world champion Marianne Vos went to battle in the elite women’s class, finishing fifth. Unfortunately, it was her last race of the winter. Next week, Vos will undergo surgery to repair an artery in her groin.
“If everything goes according to plan, I can burden my body again six weeks after the procedure,” said Vos. “In cooperation with the team, I am working on a recovery process in order to achieve my goals during the road season.”
