The weekend of racing began with the Friday night Fat Tire Crit through downtown Grand Junction, Colorado. Armstrong made a break with two other riders nine minutes into the race and managed to hold off the rest of the 28 elite competitors to finish third. Anthony followed just a few spots behind in 8th.
Sunday’s 43-mile backcountry XC loop had no shortage of climbing with just over 6,000ft of technical up. Armstrong and Anthony were on course four hours, laying the power down and vying for a podium position. Both riders finished strong, right off the podium in sixth and seventh, respectively.
“Racing these women is always inspiring,” said Armstrong. “I love how relentless we are and just how much we push and motivate each other!”
Armstrong will head to Kansas June 1st for the ultimate 200-mile gravel race – Dirty Kanza – before joining up with Anthony again for Epic Rides Carson City Off-Road race June 28-30.
