Team: Try a Tri
My name is Tricia Speidel and I’m originally from North East Pennsylvania. I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in nutritional sciences. Shortly after graduating I moved to Richmond Virginia to complete a dietetic internship. I fell in love with Virginia and stayed in Richmond to work as a clinical dietitian. While doing some volunteer work for the YMCA in Richmond I met Tommy, who is now my husband. Tommy and I share a passion for building strong communities through inspiring others to live a life they love. Together my husband and I love to hike, backpack, mountain bike and travel to see our favorite bands. After we were married, Tommy and I moved to Savannah, Georgia. I continued to work as a clinical dietitian and was finding myself missing making meaningful connections with the people I was treating.
It was in Savannah were I did my first marathon. During my training I started doing power yoga regularly. I remember leaving class one night and thinking, if I can make others feel how I feel right now I will be happy for the rest of my life. I signed up for Yoga Teacher Training the next week and have been able to make this my full time job since then. Tommy and I moved to California two and a half years ago with our 4-legged baby girl, Halley. I now work as studio manager and teach full time at Power of Your Om Yoga Studio in Santa Barbara.
My goal for being a part of the Tri Tribe is simple: to share authentically my journey to completing my first Tri. I am a complete newbie at this. Before 3 weeks ago, I had never been on a road bike. I want to share with others that you can do anything you put your mind to. Setting goals is powerful AND it is essential to have help and accountability along the way. There is nothing more powerful than creating a strong community through authentic sharing and pushing each other.
