Liv Racing triathlete Allysa Seely won the opening round of the ITU World Paratriathlon Series Saturday in Milan, Italy, a first-time WPS host.

Seely emerged from the 750m swim in the Idroscalo Milano in fifth, almost a minute and a half behind the early race leader. A speedy transition followed by a blistering performance on the bike course aboard her Avow Advanced Pro helped Seely get out front. Her dominant run split confirmed the victory; she crossed the finish line over two minutes before her closest competitor, fellow American Hailey Danz. After an undefeated season in 2018, this finish brings Seely’s tally up to five wins in a row.

“The weeks leading into this race were not as smooth as one would hope for their season opener,” said Seely after crossing the finish line. “Having the support of my coach, the team around me and my family was so important in my performance today. They helped in any way they could, taking some of the stress off of my plate, keeping my body put together, and reminding me to go out and race like I know how to. Without them, I am not sure I would have had the success I did today. I am thrilled to be able to come away with the win after a mentally grueling two weeks pre-race.”
