On Sunday, August 11, Liv hosted the seventh-annual Women’s Only A-Line Event, welcoming over 150 women and girls to ride Whistler’s famous A-Line Jump Trail in an intimidation-free environment. For three hours, the trail was closed to women only during Crankworx so those new to A-Line and seasoned rippers could shred the trail together.
In 2013, the event was established to bring women together for a freeride shred session on A-Line, a 1,200 vertical-foot flowy jump trail featuring masterfully sculpted berm turns, jumps and tables that is recognized as one of the most iconic flow trails in the world. Over the years, the event has continued to fill-up as soon as registration opens and attracts both locals and visitors alike with participants from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Sweden, China and Australia.
This year, Liv listened to the needs of participants and offered more organized instruction for those who wanted it. With the help of Liv ambassadors like Lindsey Richter and Caroline Washam, as well Whistler Bike Park instructors and SRAM ambassadors, eventgoers were able to progress their riding to new levels while being encouraged through the trickier spots on the trail. SRAM and RockShox were also on site to offer technical assistance at the top of the trail while Liv Canada offered demos of both the Hail Advanced and Intrigue Advanced.
Even the rain coming down and chilly temperatures didn’t dampen spirits, in fact, a little mud may have just made it more fun! The stoke continued after the riding was done, as participants made their way into the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) for après and prizes. Lynn Slaby from Cumberland, BC walked away with the grand prize – a brand new 2020 Liv Hail Advanced OR Intrigue Advanced!
