Road Season Kicks Off for CCC-Liv Team

Liv is continuing its tradition of working with the world’s best road cyclists in 2019 and is excited to kick off the season with the all-new CCC-Liv Team.

The first race on the team’s calendar will take place January 10-13 in Australia with the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under, followed closely by the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race on January 26.

"The races in Australia are not targets as such, but they are ideal for laying a solid foundation on which we can build the rest of the season,” said Jeroen Blijlevens, team leader. “In the time between the two races, we stay in Australia for a training camp with a part of the squad. The first important races where the preparation should cash out, will take place in March.”

March – meaning, the Spring Classics. These races, including Strade Bianche, Ronde van Drenthe, Gent-Wevelgem, and Tour of Flanders, span Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands and all contain daunting hills and challenging cobbles.

A fresh face aboard CCC-Liv, Ashleigh Moolman Pasio aims to use her strengths and pedigree as a contender in the Women’s WorldTour to start 2019 with a bang. Coming off a general classification podium performance at Giro Rosa in 2018, she is excited to co-lead this team to new heights in the year ahead.

“Climbing is my biggest strength,” said Moolman Pasio. “That does mean that I’ll already have some ambitions in the Spring Classics time. So, races like Strade Bianche, Flanders, and then Flèche Wallonne – those are all highlight races for me. I’d love to take a victory for the team.”

Though CCC-Liv has their sights set on making their presence known at the Classics, they don’t plan to stop there. Marianne Vos joins Moolman Pasio in a co-leadership role and is looking forward to returning to Liv family, working with a new team of young talent, and achieving her personal goals.

“It’s good to be back,” said Vos. “I’m excited for the new team that we have, CCC-Liv.  The first goal will be Worlds Cyclocross [February 2-3, Bogense, Denmark]. Then we have a beautiful spring campaign with the European Spring Classics where obviously, we have riders that can go for the top results – also myself, I want to be good in the Spring Campaign and aiming for a good result. The big focus is on the World Championships and then preparing for the next Olympic Games.”
