After a race-winning 2017 season, including a historic win at Tour of Flanders and a UCI TTT World Championship title, Liv continues to work with Team Sunweb’s women’s team through the off-season and beyond to offer greater integration of Liv products in the New Year. With some of the fastest women in the pro peloton, Liv aims to use rider feedback to further product design and development.
Liv launched the all-new lightweight road racing weapon, the Langma Advanced SL at the start of this year’s Giro Rosa. Immediately, Team Sunweb star sprinter Coryn Rivera raced to two podium finishes and powerhouse Lucinda Brand scored the bike’s first victory during Giro Rosa’s Queen Stage. The team will continue to ride the Langma and the World Championship-winning Envie Advanced Pro aero road bike in 2018.
In addition to their quiver of road bikes, the Team Sunweb women will continue to ride, test and race Liv and Giant’s premium components, including Liv Contact SL and SLR saddles, Giant SL and SLR handlebars and stems, and team-issued WheelSystems featuring Dynamic Balanced Lacing (DBL) technology from Giant. Over the past year, Team Sunweb’s women’s squad has been testing and proving these wheels in the peloton, with multiple wins and podium finishes. After playing an important role in developing these wheels for the masses, they will continue to race on Giant’s premium WheelSystems with tubular tires in 2018.
The team will continue its partnership with Liv for performance helmet technology, including the Extima, Rev Liv, Attacca and Attacca TT, giving the riders the option to choose the most aerodynamic and comfortable helmet for the demands of each race. New for 2018, the Sunweb women will be testing Liv’s latest footwear, featuring MES (Motion Efficiency System) technology. MES combines a stiff, efficient pedaling platform with enough torsional flex to allow for natural movements and increased comfort.
With Liv and Etxeondo designing the team’s kits, the designers are continuing to innovate by offering the latest in cycling clothing aerodynamics and safety to the riders with DSM. The added Dyneema fibre in Etxeondo’s shorts increases comfort and protection.
Here’s a closer look at the key Liv bikes and gear Team Sunweb riders will compete with in 2018:
Langma Advanced SL: Langma Advanced SL is the lightweight, race bike that has already proven to propel the women of Team Sunweb to the podium. This all-around weapon is perfect for those hilly races with killer climbs, technical descents, and it can hold its own in a bunch sprint.
Envie Advanced Pro: Ridden to World and National Championship wins, the Envie is a versatile aero road machine. The Envie is Team Sunweb’s bike of choice for flatter terrain, when the race is sure to come down to a sprint finish.
WHEELSYSTEMS AND TIRES
As part of Giant’s expanding line of performance products, Team Sunweb riders now have a full selection of Giant WheelSystems and Gavia Tubeless Ready tires to train and race on throughout the season. The elite team will race on composite tubular rim options with various choices in rim depth. All of Giant’s team-issued wheels feature the innovative Dynamic Balanced Lacing technology. Team Sunweb riders will also work with Giant to test and develop the next generation of wheelsystem products and technologies.
Extima: Extima combines the aero speed of a TT helmet with the head-cooling ventilation of your everyday road helmet. Developed in the wind tunnel and proven at the highest level of competition, it’s Team Sunweb’s choice for all-around aero performance.
Rev: Lightweight, comfortable and engineered for maximum ventilation, Rev is the go-to helmet for summit finishes and long mountain stages in the summer heat.
Attacca: This aero road helmet was developed and optimized for those crucial final kilometers. Performing its best in an all-out, head-down sprinting position, it offers superior aero performance without compromising fit, ventilation and light weight.
Attacca TT: The Attacca TT is fine-tuned through Computational Fluid Dynamics for optimal time trial aerodynamics. Worn during Team Sunweb’s World Championship winning season, the Attacca TT will help riders shave seconds off their time trial efforts.
Liv Contact SL & Contact SLR Saddles: Team Sunweb women have been testing and refining Liv’s Contact Saddle line over the past several seasons. Using Liv’s Dynamic Cycling Fit philosophy, which helps all riders achieve the perfect fit for body position and riding style, these premium saddles optimize comfort and efficiency for long, hard days in the saddle.
Contact SLR/SL handlebar and Stratus bar tape: Engineered with ultralight composite (SLR) and aluminum (SL) materials and available in multiple shapes and sizes, this handlebar returns as the team’s top choice for road stages.
Contact SLR/SL stem: Lightweight and super stiff, these composite (SLR) and aluminum (SL) stems deliver uncompromising performance for sprinting, cornering, climbing and descending.
New footwear models featuring Liv’s already established Motion Efficiency System are being developed and tested with Team Sunweb riders this winter. The latest prototypes being ridden in training have a similar look and design as the current Macha model, with several key updates to further optimize performance and comfort. Look for further details in the coming weeks.
Liv continues its role as the team’s official team kit supplier. Designed in collaboration with the team, and manufactured by Etxeondo, Liv supplies Team Sunweb riders with the latest products like DSM Dyneema fibre that help advance their performance while keeping them comfortable and safe on the bike.
