Team BikeExchange-Jayco rider Alex Manly scored her first Women’s WorldTour victory Friday in Norway. The fourth stage of the Tour of Scandinavia ended with a sprint from a late breakaway, where Manly edged out the competition to take the win.

The 119km stage from Askim to Mysen consisted of constant attacks, but none were able to stay away. With 11km to go, Alice Barnes (Canyon-SRAM) launched an attach and Manly followed. They were joined by four other riders with 3.5km to go, giving the small bunch enough power to stay away from the chasing peloton. As Barnes was receiving a lead out for the final sprint, Manly came past on the final 150m of uphill to the finish, securing the stage win.

“It’s a bit surreal to be honest,” said Manly. “I’ve been trying to do this all year but kept making mistakes and today it wasn’t the plan to do what I did, but the opportunity was there so I couldn’t not take it. I am really glad to pull it off because the girls have been working really hard for me for a long time now.”

In addition to her stage four win, Manly finished securely inside the top ten on stages 2-6, resulting in third place in the general classification.
