What is your biggest cycling achievement?
Taking the leap to put myself out there as a professional athlete later in my 20s and representing my country at World Championships for the first time in 2019 at the age of 31.
What is your biggest non-cycling achievement?
Graduating from college with two bachelor’s degrees and honors; starting a career in the cycling industry; marrying my best friend.
What is your goal for 2020?
To recover fully from shoulder surgery to compete at the top level in national and international events while giving back to my local MTB community.
Do you have another job outside of racing?
In addition to racing downhill professionally, I am a certified mountain bike coach and own coaching business, Spoked, LLC. I have also worked for Liv as a contractor for the past 7 years, first as a demo driver in the Western US and then in Global Content Marketing. I still work for Liv part-time as a content contractor helping with web content and social media!
What do you love about cycling?
I love EVERYTHING about mountain biking. I love being outside, the adrenaline, the sweat, the dirt, the taste of a cold beer and Mexican food after a good ride, I love the confidence riding has given me, the strength (both physical and mental), and at the same time the humility to laugh at myself. I love riding alone, sharing rides with my dad, brother and husband, and constantly making new friends on the trail. I could go on and on…
Why do you love riding for Liv?
There isn't a brand out there that I would rather ride for. Over the past 7 years, I've seen Liv grow and with it, the opportunities for women in the cycling industry. Liv's goal to get women on bikes is REAL and every single Liv employee I've met uses that goal as their motivation mantra at work. Because of Liv, there are more options for women when it comes to bikes and gear, there is more support for women new to the sport, and there are more opportunities for women to grow within the sport - whether that is as an athlete, an ambassador, a rider, or as an industry professional. Oh, and did I mention I LOVE my bikes?
What is your favorite place to travel?
My favorite place to travel is where ever I'm heading next. I love going to new places!
What is your favorite food?
If I had to choose, I'd say a Southern seafood dinner at my parent's house. Blue Crab with butter for dipping, fried fish, hush puppies, coleslaw, and cucumbers and tomatoes soaked in vinegar.
Who is (are) your favorite riding partner(s)?
My husband on the mountain bike and my dad on the road bike. I love riding with new people who push me a little out of my comfort zone.
"When I'm not riding my bike, I'm ______!"
washing my bike! Haha, you could also find me on my computer writing or scheming the next Liv content project, cooking something yummy, hanging out with my cats, or enjoying time with my husband, friends, and family.
What are the top 3 things on your bucket list?
Words you live by...
You'll never know what you are capable of unless you try.
