CCC-Liv Team wrapped up the Boels Ladies Tour with a strong second place overall finish in the team classification. The team walked away with several accomplishments at the WorldTour event in the Netherlands, including Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio leading both the mountain and points classifications early in the week.

On Sunday’s final stage, Moolman-Pasio was again aggressive, making a late breakaway on her Liv Langma Advanced SL in a bid for the stage win.

“We wanted to go for a victory in the last stage, but we also realized our chances would not be very high,” said CCC-Liv sports director Jeroen Blijlevens. “We expected a sprint and a lot of control from the team of the classification leader. If there were any escapes, we absolutely wanted to be part of it.”

There were several attacks near the end of the 155km final stage from Nijmegen to Arnhem.

“When the peloton thinned out, there were still five CCC-Liv riders at the front,” Blijlevens said. “Ashleigh placed a nice jump in the final kilometers. We hoped that the favorites behind them would hesitate and look at each other. Unfortunately, Ashleigh was caught 2.5 kilometers from the finish line.”

Other highlights for the team included Riejanne Markus’s third-place finish on Saturday’s Stage 4. The Dutch rider was in a key breakaway of four riders, which escaped with 45km to go. She tried to make a solo attack in the final kilometers, but was ultimately reeled back in and sprinted to third place on the day. Markus’s efforts also earned her the Most Combative Rider award for the day.
