CCC-Liv’s Ashleigh Moolman Pasio finished her road season strong in front of Liv Cycling staff and fans at the KOM Challenge in Taiwan on Friday. The team nearly completed the entire podium with Marianne Vos second, Pauliena Rooijakkers fourth, and Jeanne Korevaar fifth.
Known as one of the most challenging hill climb races in the world, the Taiwan KOM Challenge is the perfect race for Liv’s lightweight road race bike Langma Advanced SL. The race begins at sea level and rises 3,275 meters over 105 kilometers to the highest point accessible by road in Taiwan. Currently in its eighth year, the Taiwan KOM Challenge draws big crowds, welcoming 730 cyclists from 42 countries.
“I’m really happy to win the KOM Challenge,” said Moolman Pasio. “It is something that has been on my bucket list for quite some time now. As a climber, I love climbing, and this is the hardest climbing race in the world with a climb that lasts for over 80km. It was really special to take part and tick it off my bucket list with a win. It’s even more special that it’s in Taiwan. To be able to win for Liv in their home country was really special.”
