Radka Kahlefeldt Second at Nepean Triathlon!

Team / Atleti

After a month of focused training, Radka Kahlefeldt returned to racing Sunday at the Nepean Triathlon in Sydney, Australia. Though Kahlefeldt usually races 70.3-distance triathlons, she mixed it up with some of the best short-distance triathletes in the world, winning a head-to-head sprint to the line for second place.

Nepean is a non-drafting triathlon consisting of a 1km swim, 30km bike and 10km run. Sunday’s conditions were near-perfect with cloudy skies, light wind and warm water, meaning no wetsuits would be allowed. Kahlefeldt was second out of the water and onto her Liv Avow Advanced Pro triathlon bike to tackle a flat, but technical bike course. The top three competitors all came off the bike and into T2 at nearly the same time, but Kahlefeldt’s quick transition meant she was hot on the heels of the race leader. After a fast, flat 10km run Kahlefeldt pushed to the line for an exciting sprint finish.

“I came into the race feeling pretty relaxed and very excited to race again after one month of just training,” said Kahlefeldt. “I love to race.”

Kahlefeldt’s next race is the Noosa Triathlon on Sunday, November 4.
