Spanish rider Mavi García claims a podium finish in Kigali, at the UCI Road World Championship after a monumental season with Liv AlUla Jayco.

Mavi García of the Liv AlUla Jayco team powered to the finish line in third place at the Women’s Elite Road World Championships in Kigali, Rwanda. Racing on her Langma Advanced SL team model.

The Spanish rider, known for her bold moves, launched an attack from the breakaway pack with 22 km to go, on the Côte de Kigali. She was quickly joined by Canada’s Magdeleine Vallieres and New Zealand’s Niamh Fisher-Black, and the three riders opened a decisive gap. On the final lap of the steep cobblestones of the Côte de Kimihurara, the most demanding climb of the course, Garcia powered up the ascent to secure her spot on the podium.

“The truth is, I hadn’t realised that our group was fighting for the medals,” García said after the finish. “On the last lap, all I thought was it was time to suffer. My mind got a little weak in those final moments. My boyfriend, who’s also my coach, always reminds me that you have to suffer in those moments. So, I thought about catching those at the front instead of looking back.”

García also spoke warmly about her experience in Rwanda: “I loved this World Championship. I knew it was going to be a great experience because it was different from anything I had experienced before. We enjoy being here, walking around, seeing the different culture, and the friendly people.”

This bronze medal marks another highlight in García’s career, adding to her major achievements of 2025, which included her win on Stage 2 at the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Congrats Mavi!
