Torque, measured in Newton meters (Nm), signifies a motor's strength – crucial for tackling hills and accelerating effortlessly. Giant's latest central E-Bike motors are: SyncDrive Core 55Nm, SyncDrive Sport 2 75Nm and SyncDrive Pro 2 85Nm. In each case, this figure is a sustainable torque level. This means that our motors can consistently deliver their maximum torque, unlike some competitors whose peak torque drops significantly after a few seconds.
With Giant E-Bike systems, you conquer climbs with unwavering torque throughout. While excessive torque can cause wheel spin, our 85Nm sweet spot offers optimal performance.
Assistance levels dictates how much power the motor provides relative to your pedalling effort, typically expressed as a percentage.

The high power outputs of Giant E-Bikes can take the sting out of any terrain. Each bike features 5 pre-set modes ranging from 50% up to 400% assistance, easily adjustable with the RideControl app. The maximum assistance for our motor is - SyncDrive Core 300%, SyncDrive Sport 2 400%, SyncDrive Pro 2 400%.
If 50% as a minimum isn’t enough then no problem, increase it so the bike does more of the hard work in every mode. On the flip side, if 400% is too much for you and you want more of a workout out then reduce it so you have 5 separate modes that work for you and how you want to ride.
Every Giant E-Bike has a unique 6th mode called Smart Assist. This is the default setting when you switch on the E-Bike, in this mode the bike works out which mode you need to be in automatically.
In any of the regular 5 modes, 4 sensors are monitoring what’s going on.
In Smart Assist two additional sensors come online.
With all 6 sensors feeding back to the brains of the system, the motor gives the right amount of assistance, instantaniously based on how and where you are riding. This changes constantly based on the terrain or what the rider is doing. Smart Assist takes the guesswork out of mode selection, all you have to do is pedal but don’t forget you still need to change gear.

Launch control adjusts how quickly the power and torque are delivered, with 7 levels to select, the torque “OOMPH” can kick start in a fraction of a second. For instance, Level 1 kicks in within 2.5 second and Level 7 in 0.19 seconds. For some riders, it might be too quick, so adjust the assistance and you can select the mode.
