Bicycling reviewer Riley Missel calls out several features that set the Thrive E+ EX Pro apart as a best-in-class commuter e-bike. For starters, the bike comes commuter-ready with fenders, a rear rack, kickstand, and integrated lights. Boosted by the SyncDrive Pro Motor, Thrive E+ is also capable of reaching 28 mph with five pedal-assistance levels, and with the RideControl EVO display paired with the phone app riders can get easy-to-read directions and notifications right on the handlebar.
Missel also highlighted Thrive E+ EX Pro’s fit and stability as distinct benefits of this electrified commuter.
“The wide, stable tires lended a confident, planted feeling to the ride, which is absolutely necessary when you’re riding at 28 mph,” said Missel. “Despite the weight, the 27.5-inch wheels kept it feeling maneuverable, another crucial factor at high speeds or on crowded streets. The geometry of the Thrive E+ EX Pro puts the rider in a slightly forward position, which strikes a balance between optimal power output (for when you really gotta get there) and comfort (for when you don’t).”
When visiting a new location, Missel appreciated the RideControl EVO handlebar system display. Paired with the RideControl App, the display can give route directions without having to run third-party programs on your phone.
“To me, the coolest part of control unit was the route mapping. You don’t need to sync the device with a third-party account or upload GPS files—just pop the destination address into the app and the monitor will display turn-by turn directions,” said Missel.
