Marianne Vos rode to her 5th win of the 7-day Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche Thursday on the shorter 88km route from Chomerac to Privas. Vos rode near the front of the peloton over the day’s rolling terrain until 20km from the finish when another rider attacked, and she followed. On the final descent into the finish, Vos dropped her companion and crossed the line solo to secure the overall win by a commanding six-minute lead.
CCC-Liv accomplished their impressive victory at the Tour of the Ardèche with a small but effective team. Vos applauded their efforts after her win on social media: “Cheers on a beautiful week in Ardèche! Small team left, but all in with full energy. Thanks, CCC-Liv Team!”
After finishing a 17-day high-altitude training immediately before the start of the tour, Vos has proved she is in top-form, ready for World Championships in just over a week. Worlds week in Yorkshire, England kicks off Saturday, September 21, with Para-cycling road races followed by the mixed team time trial on Sunday, September 22. Junior and elite women’s individual time trial races will take place September 23-24 and the main events will be held Friday, September 27 for junior women and Saturday, September 28 for the women’s elite catefory.
