CCC-Liv Team sent three riders to Huijbergen on Sunday for a muddy Dutch Cyclocross National Championships and two landed on the podium. Marianne Vos and Inge van der Heijden raced in their orange jerseys with Liv bikes and gear for the first time in 2019 and finished second and third, respectively.
In the U23 category, van der Heijden set out to defend her National Championship title from 2018. Unfortunately, luck was not on her side. Off the start, she was first to the climb but dropped a chain off a drop which cost precious time. She slid back to fourth, but didn’t give up and fought back to earn the bronze medal.
Six-time Dutch National Champion, Vos sought to reclaim the title but settled for silver after an exciting battle for the top-three slots.
Two more World Cup CX races stand between the CCC-Liv racers and World Championships, which will take place in Bogense, Denmark on February 2-3.
