Vos has won three of the first seven stages in the 10-day stage race through northern Italy that's known as the premier women's stage race on the UCI Women's WorldTour. The three-time road world champion also has 24 career stage wins at the Giro Rosa, along with three overall wins (2011, 2012, 2014).
The hilly Stage 7 featured three categorized climbs and numerous additional steep ascents including the cobblestone roads of Muro della Tisa and the finishing climb to Fara. It was an aggressive day of racing with multiple attacks throughout the stage, but CCC-Liv Team made all the right moves to put Vos in position to contest the win on her Langma Advanced SL team bike. Vos was also riding with a recently introduced WheelSystem from the new components brand CADEX.
“I had to dig really deep today,” said Vos after her win. “It was a beautiful stage, hard from the beginning, with constant attacks in the final. I tried to cruise with some of them, and then on the last climb I just tried to do the right things. I made the right move, and actually couldn’t believe I had it.”
The Giro Rosa continues with Stage 8 on Friday, and will conclude Sunday with a dramatic final summit finish in Udine.
