Since the launch of Liv’s Langma Advanced road bike at Giro Rosa in July 2017, the women of Team Sunweb, proud new Langma owners, and the critics have been raving about this lightweight, nimble and powerful race machine.
It’s no wonder – Team Sunweb has already powered the bike to multiple podium finishes, including an early season win at Omloop van Het Hageland by Ellen van Dijk. By all accounts, Langma is blasting into 2018 to make a statement as the fastest bike in the peloton.
But even before Lucinda Brand road the Langma solo to victory on Stage 8 of Giro Rosa, key editors from around the world were given a sneak peek into just what the Langma could do on the infamous Passo San Boldo in Follina, Italy. The climb is known for its 18 switchbacks with 6 hairpins carved into tunnels.
What was the response to Langma’s featherweight women’s-specific composite layup with aerodynamic features and comfort in all the right places?
“Langma is a deceptively strong lady, and pushing the power through that stiff bottom bracket area gets an immediate response,” said Aoife Glass reporting her first ride impressions on Bike Radar.
“When the steep pitches of the climb leveled out to a steady grade towards the end, I took advantage of the light, stiff frame and made a real effort to accelerate. The bike seemed to fly up to the top of the climb (and I snagged 3rd on that Strava segment!),” reported Elspeth Huyett in Bicycling Magazine after her debut ride on the Langma.
But it’s not just Langma’s women’s-specific composite frame that is making editors stop and take note. With carefully devised componentry to offer the best fit and highest quality ride, all Langma models come out of the box with tubeless-ready wheelsystems and some models are offered with the stopping performance of hydraulic disc brakes. For Langma’s top-end models, highly engineered additions like the Contact SLR Flux stem are designed to be supremely aerodynamic – this premium stem alone reduces drag by 1.75 percent.
Most recently, Langma has claimed a spot in Bicycling Magazine’s coveted 2018 Buyer’s Guide. Riley Missel praised the Langma Advanced Disc for having a certain x-factor that makes you want to race.
“The way it jumps, surges, and climbs reminded me how much I once loved racing—before training took a toll and I fizzled out… I just want a bike that will inspire me to line up at the start. The [Langma] Advanced Disc is that bike.” –Bicycling Magazine 2018 Buyer’s Guide.
