With a few weeks before the next round of the Enduro World Series in Slovenia, Rae Morrison took the opportunity to race the second round of the Italian National Enduro series, known as Superenduro, in Calestano. Under sunny skies and on hero dirt, Morrison rode her Hail Advanced team bike to victory.
The four-stage enduro course covered 40km with 1700m of climbing and 30 minutes of combined race time in the Alpicella Bike Park network of trails.
“The Italian National Series vibe was really relaxed and fun and the riding in Calestano is fantastic,” said Morrison. “It was an interesting combo of riding in hot, humid conditions on tricky greasy tracks. By race day most of the course had dried out except for some upredictable slippery parts of off-camber sections in the trees that kept you on your toes.”
Morrison’s experience racing the technical tracks of the EWS series was key to her success. She succeeded in her strategy to stay smooth and attack where it was safe, coming away with the win in all four stages and winning the overall by about a minute and a half.
“I’ll be back for sure,” said Rae. “Especially because the race packs where filled with pasta and cheese!”
