A last minute decision to race the Noumea (New Caledonia) International Triathlon paid off for Liv Racing athlete Radka Kahlefeldt. She added another win to her already stellar season ahead of Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships in Vietnam in two weeks.
Sunday’s warm, humid conditions were the perfect preparation for the Asia Pacific Championships. Ahead of the race, Kahlefeldt was excited to get to the start line of a shorter event – Ironman 70.3/ half-distance races include a 1.9km swim, 90km bike ride, and 21.1km run. Though Kahlefeldt was lock-step with second-place finisher Sophie Corbidge (New Zealand) after the 1.5km swim, she made short work of the 40km bike course aboard her Avow Advanced Pro. Kahlefeldt’s 4.5-minute lead was extended on the 10km run, which consisting of four loops of a 2.5km circuit, finishing with a winning time of 2:03:19 (9th overall).
“My favorite part of the race was running the 4-loop course and seeing [daughter] Ruby with [husband] Brad cheering me on,” said Kahlefeldt.
The Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship in DaNang, Vietnam will take place on the 12th of May.
