Radka Kahlefeldt Wins Asia Pacific Championships
Radka Kahlefeldt secured her second race win in the Philippines last weekend when she bested a stacked field to finish first at the Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championships.
The race began with a 1.9km swim along the beachfront of Shangri-LaMactan Resort and Spa, where Kahlefeldt exited the water third. After a quick transition it was onto the bike leg aboard her Avow Advanced Pro, which consisted of three loops through Lapu-Lapu City and Mandaue City for a total of 90km. Kahlefeldt rode strong, coming into transition two in second place.
“I was leading out of the second transition and decided to push on the run without looking back as I knew that behind me will be many strong girls pushing to catch me,” said Kahlefeldt. “To my big surprise, I got a split time after the first 10km and I was in the lead by about 5 minutes! This was amazing to hear and I knew I was going to win the race.”
Kahlefeldt passed the finish line to win the Asia Pacific Championships with a lead of nearly ten minutes over the next competitor. Her next race will be Ironman 70.3 World Championships in South Africa on September 1.
