Less than 3 months after the birth of her first child, Radka Kahlefeldt led a commanding effort to seal her first win of the season Saturday in the Philippines. It was her first race back after taking a year off during pregnancy.
From the start, Kahlefeldt pulled away from the field and exited the swim with a 1:19 lead. After T1, she went out to make a statement aboard her Avow Advanced Pro, putting in a blistering pace to finish the 56-mile course in 2:23:35. With a 7 minute lead over second place, Kahlefeldt was able to cruise through the half marathon with a third-fastest run to finish first overall by 11:16.
“I felt great during the race, especially during the swim and bike,” said Kahlefeldt. “I couldn’t believe that I won the race just 11 weeks after delivering baby Ruby.”
Kahlefeldt’s impressive start-to-finish victory kicks off a full race schedule for 2018, including Ironman 70.3 Luizhou, China April 14.
