After re-starting their 2020 season at Strade Biache in July, CCC-Liv riders lined up at the start of another Italian race Tuesday heading into National Championship races this weekend. Three CCC-Liv teammates finished in the top-10 at Giro dell’Emilia with Pauliena Rooijakkers leading the way in third.

Giro dell’Emilia consists of mostly flat roads for the first 85km before finishing at the summit of a 10 percent average grade climb at San Luca. CCC-Liv’s key racers were able to remain at the front for the flat runup to San Luca, despite wind and attempts to create echelons.

After reeling in two breakaways leading up to the final climb, a crash fractured the peloton at the approach fractured the group. CCC-Liv’s Pauliena Rooijakkers, Sabrina Stultiens, and Soraya Paladin were uninvolved in the crash, but unable to bridge to the eventual race leader. Rooijakkers proved her climbing ability and crossed the finishline in third. Stultiens finished fifth, just three seconds back of her teammate followed by Paladin in sixth, racing the Liv Langma Advanced SL.

Next up, CCC-Liv athletes head to their home countries for National Championships before the next Women’s WorldTour race – GP de Plouay, in France.
