Conditions on race day were rainy and cold, but Tertsch emerged out of the choppy waters on the 750m swim in second place. She maintained her position on the 20km bike leg, sticking with the front pack aboard her Langma. Tertsch made her move on the run, posting the fastest 5km split and securing the overall victory.
“I pushed hard and was able to pull away from the rest of the field during the run while still feeling strong,” said Tertsch. “When I saw I had a growing gap, I knew that I would probably be able to win.”
Tertsch will toe the start line next at the World Triathlon Championship Series final in Abu Dhabi on November 26.
