Liv Racing triathlete Radka Kahlefeldt scored a podium finish at the Challenge Championship in Samorin, Slovakia, improving on her third-place finish from last year. The 34-year-old from the Czech Republic finished second behind Lucy Charles of Great Britain, putting in the fastest run of the day to take the silver medal.
Kahlefeldt started off with a strong swim in challenging conditions. Cold water and a fast-moving current in the Danube River had officials questioning whether to hold the swim in the days leading up to the event, but it was ultimately decided that it was safe enough for athletes to take on the 1.9km swim. Kahlefeldt finished her swim near the front of the field, and from there she put in a strong ride on her Liv Avow Advanced Pro bike during the 90km bike ride.
Heading into the 21.1km run, Kahlefeldt was in fourth position. Feeling strong, she fought her way up to second by the finish with a blistering run time of 1:19:15.
“To be on the podium here, it means a lot,” Kahlefeldt said. “Lucy is just on another level, I really don’t know how she does it. Well done to her, and to Daniela Bleymehl who was third.”
