Following Team Sunweb’s bronze medal performance at the team time trial on Sunday, it was specialist Ellen van Dijk who scored the team’s highest position in the individual time trial event Tuesday to bring home bronze for the Netherlands.
At half the distance of the TTT course, the 27.8km ITT course also featured more rollers and technical turns. Team Sunweb had five riders competing and all of them finished within the top 13, proof of team’s time trial dominance.
“It’s a really good performance from Ellen to take bronze – we did everything we could to be at our best here and she gave all she had for the medal,” said coach Koen de Haan. “She took bronze in front of Leah [Kirchmann], who did an incredible TT after making some really good steps this year in the TT’s. Lucinda [Brand] can also be proud of her top 10 finish whilst riding her first World Championships in the discipline, as well as our younger riders Pernille [Mathiesen] and Juliette [Labous] who can look back on a strong performance today.”
Team Sunweb riders will take to the road on Saturday, September 29th aboard their Langma Advanced SL team bikes to compete for yet another World Championship title.
