Bicycling Names Intrigue E+ Pro Best Women’s E-MTB!

Thursday, January 30, 2020

Among the best E-bikes you can buy right now, the Liv Intrigue E+ Pro stands out in the women’s electric mountain bike category, according to Bicycling Magazine. “With 150mm of travel up front and 140mm in the rear, you’ll be able to hit double-track ruts without veering from your line,” said reviewer Riley Missel.

Evaluated on several factors including performance, price, handling and fun, Bicycling Magazine kicked off 2020 with a list of the best e-bikes of the year. From electric-powered city commuters and cargo bikes to e-road and mountain bikes, 19 e-bikes were given their own “Best of” awards. The Liv Intrigue E+ 1 Pro took home the crown for “Best Women’s E-MTB”.

Bicycling reviewer Riley Missel tested the 2019 Intrigue E+ after Sea Otter and praised the bike’s power, maneuverability, and women’s-specific fit.

“While the battery and motor add weight, the Liv felt lighter to me than other e-mountain bikes I’ve tried,” said Missel. “The heft of one will always make it harder to maneuver on technical trails, but the lower weight, good geometry, and torquey motor of this one made it feel less so. That makes this bike a good option for women looking for some balance between power and maneuverability.”

For 2020, Intrigue E+ Pro is offered in level 1 and 2 models (availability varies by country). Both come with SRAM Eagle 12-speed drivetrains and Giant 27.5 tubeless ready wheel systems with 35mm inner width rims and 2.6-inch tires. Intrigue E+ Pro also saw an upgrade in 2020 to the new EngergyPak Smart 500Whr battery, capable of reaching over 80% charge in 2.2 hours and lasting up to 160km in ideal conditions. PedalPlus 6-sensor technology (an upgrade over 2019’s 4-sensor tech) makes for an even smoother ride. The SyncDrive Pro Motor still delivers the same 80Nm of Torque Missel raved about in her review.

“The motor is powerful and torquey—even going up steep single track I usually just kept it in the lower two assist levels of the five [six for 2020 models] available. That was enough to keep my pace and ascend just slightly faster than I would on a regular bike without breathing too heavy,” she said.
