Allysa Seely Wins Gold Coast ITU World Paratriathlon!

Teams/Riders

The ITU World Paratriathlon Series made a stop in the Gold Coast of Australia last weekend. Racing for the USA, Liv paratriathlete Allysa Seely took the top spot in the women’s PTS2 field.

Coming off a win at the ITU Can-Am Continental Championships in Sarasota, Florida last month, Saturday’s race was the first in the World Series for 2017. The sprint-distance race consisted of a 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run, the same course that would be used for the WTS elite races later in the day.

Out of the water, Seely trailed Yukako Hata (Japan) by just over one minute. However, a quick T1 and blistering bike leg on her Avow Advanced Pro, placed Seely firmly in the lead. With a run time that bested the second place finisher by nearly five minutes, she sealed the deal and crossed the finish line first with a time of 01:26:35.

Seely will look to continue her winning streak at the ITU World Triathlon Series Yokohama, Japan May 13-14.
