BikeRadar editor, Katherine Moore reviewed Liv’s women’s specific aero bike, the EnviLiv. This is Liv’s third generation EnviLiv model that has been optimised for aerodynamic performance and a greater stiffness-to-weight ratio. It features truncated ellipse airfoil tube shapes and an all-new Contact Aero cockpit, with flattened tops and deeper drops, for reduced drag and added control, and better overall aero performance.
The EnviLiv range consists of the Advanced, Advanced Pro, and the Advanced SL frameset. The new range sees Liv’s premium SL-grade carbon used for the first time on the EnviLiv, formerly used only on the Giant Propel SL, while a reduction in tube sizing and shape has led to a weight-saving across all models.
The model which Moore tested was the EnviLiv Advanced 1, and her first impressions of Liv’s new aero racer were positive.
“The momentum it carries when really pushing on the pedals is impressive, and the beautifully shaped compact drops mean tucking down into the handlebar is both easy and, for me, comfortable.”
Moore found the EnviLiv easy to handle. She was impressed by how it even tackled rougher, potholed terrain claiming that it didn’t once feel sketchy or out of its comfort zone. As some roads in the UK can get really rough, it’s reassuring knowing that the EnviLiv is capable on a variety of road surfaces, doing a great job of reducing any discomfort.
The summarise, Moore claimed that “for pure speed, the EnviLiv will take some beating”. The race-ready model is perfect for triathlons, criteriums, road racing, or even club rides. It especially comes to life on flat or rolling terrain, with Moore praising the EnviLiv as “a highly rewarding ride, and one that matches speed with great comfort”.
