For Dr. Sarah Ruggins, the iconic Land's End to John o' Groats to Land's End (LEJOGLE) wasn't just a route; it was a personal Everest, a grueling 2,700-kilometer test of will, endurance, and unwavering spirit. The clock was her relentless adversary, with a world record of under 5 days and 18 hours hanging in the balance. How could one woman possibly push her body and mind to such an extreme? Her journey would inspire us all.

Dr Sarah Ruggins: Rewriting the Record Books on Two Wheels
On May 11th, Canadian physiotherapist Dr Sarah Ruggins set off on an incredible 2,700-kilometre LEJOGLE ride – from Land’s End to John o’ Groats and back – on her Liv EnviLiv Advanced Pro 0 AXS. With no background in cycling, a recent start on the bike and a history of autoimmune disease, this wasn’t just a ride – it was a bold statement of recovery, strength and self-belief.
The challenge was brutal. Sarah faced five days of near-total exhaustion, riding on just eight hours of sleep across the entire effort. By day four, the fatigue had taken hold: painful mouth ulcers, disorientation and confusion crept in. The mental battle was just as tough as the physical, but her incredible support crew kept her focused, helped her make tough calls, and reminded her why she started.
On May 16th, Sarah rolled back into John o’ Groats – completely spent but victorious. She had covered 2,700km and climbed over 18,000 metres in just 5 days, 11 hours and 14 minutes, beating the men’s record by 6 hours and 43 minutes and smashing the previous women’s record by over four days.
Along the way, she raised more than £19,000 for charity. But perhaps most powerfully, she proved to herself – and the world – what’s possible when you back yourself fully, ride through the doubts and trust in progress.
We Celebrate All Women Who Ride
At Liv, we believe there’s no one way to ride — and every woman’s journey deserves to be celebrated. From world-class races like the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift to personal milestones like your first 100km, women’s cycling is stronger, bolder,= and more visible than ever.
Events like the TdFF shine a light on the incredible talent and tactical brilliance of the pro peloton. But the magic of women’s cycling doesn’t stop there. It’s in stories like Dr Sarah Ruggins – who took on a 2,700km world record ride, fuelled by resilience and pure determination. It’s in your local group ride, your solo spins and every start line, no matter the distance.
We’re proud to champion all women who ride. Because whether you’re racing for the podium or pedalling for joy, your journey matters. And together, we’re reshaping the future of cycling — one ride at a time.
