WHY DOES THE BATTERY MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE?

Well it’s all about how many amps they put out.

In simpler terms, more torque requires more amps, and at the core of this new technology is the ground-breaking new 22700 cell type. The previous 18650 battery cell in a 400wh package simply cannot put out enough amps to turn a motor at 85Nm (for a continued duration).

The 22700 cells were designed with these lightweight E-mountain bikes in mind, so the bike could offer all of the torque, all of the time if that’s what the rider demands.

The 22700 cells have a higher energy density than the previous 18650 cells, meaning we can pack the same capacity into a smaller package. They are used in the main battery of the Intrigue X E+ Elite models, and also in the 200Wh range extender available for these models.

One thing that varies dramatically from E-bike brand to E-bike brand is the lifespan of the battery. We can now state with confidence that any electric bike battery used in any of our current generation E-bikes is good for at least 2300 full charging cycles, which also equates to 4600 50% capacity top ups, or 11500 20% capacity top ups.
