Our Journey: Traveling in Southern Germany
Rides, Eats, & Sight-Seeing: A Guide to Mountain Biking in Weingarten and Ravensburg
Liv Ambassador, Leonie Narr takes us to the best local café, shows us where to get our bike gear ready, her favorite place to ride, where to go sight-seeing and the best food and night-life Weingarten and Ravensburg have to offer.
The region which includes Weingarten and Ravensburg is located in the South Germany, near Lake Constance (Bodensee). Neighboring city, Friedrichshafen was the host of EuroBike in 2014, putting all eyes on the area as a mecca for all types of cycling, especially mountain biking.
Wake Up
Need a little caffeine and sugar to get you going in the morning before a big day of mountain biking? Head down to Ravensburg to discover the best café the town has to offer. The barista at Café Glücklich will greet you with a smile. Relax in the comfortable seating areas, snack on a pastry and plan your day!
Plan
After a leisurely morning meal, head over to Bike Studio for all your biking needs. This local shop in Weingarten has a brand new Liv women’s section that is sure to have anything you might have forgotten at home.
Ride!
The Weingarten Flow Trail was completed in May 2015 and has proven itself to be a go-to ride spot for locals and tourists. The trail is 700 meters long with berms, small drops, jumps and wooden features—fun for both experienced riders and beginners! The park also hosts a 4X track and a pump track that is near completion.
Cool Off
Need a place too cool off and relax after your fun mountain bike adventure? Nearby in Ravensburg, Flappach is a natural lake and swimming hole.
See the Sights
If you are looking for a little history and an amazing view overlooking Ravensburg, visit Veitsburg. The castle that sits 525 meters above the Ravensburg is thought to have been founded around 930 AD.
Eat & Drink
After your mountain bike and sight-seeing adventure in Southern Germany, you deserve to sit back, relax and enjoy German beer and classic pub fare. Drive north back to Weingarten and take in a typical German beer garden at Linde. If you happen to be visiting on a weekend, you will discover live music at the restaurant every Friday and Saturday.
