What is your specialty on the team/ what is the main cycling discipline you ride/race? | Cross Country Mountain Bike (XCO/XCC) |
What are some of your notable cycling career results and/or achievements? |
|
What is your favorite event (race or non-race) on your calendar? Why | Definitely the MSA World Cup because both the climbs and descents are technical and super fun. It also happens to be my home World Cup and the only World Cup in Canada. Plus, the leaves on the trees in that region of Quebec are gorgeous during the race weekend in October. I am also really looking forward to the Andorra World Cup because last year I crashed out of pre-ride and broke my radius. I really loved the course so I am eager for some redemption! |
What's your favorite Liv bike? | |
What is your favorite Liv gear? | The Liv Race Day SS Jersey in Black. It makes me feel stealth and powerful out on training rides. |
Why do you ride? | I ride because I love it. I love being outdoors, challenging myself, and being creative with the terrain. Cycling makes me feel happy, strong, free, and beautiful. That feeling of being one with your bike, in complete control, and unstoppable, almost like you're floating—that’s the feeling I live/train for everyday! Plus I absolutely love the people in the mountain bike community! It's truly something special. |
When did you first realize you loved cycling? | I started attending mountain bike camps in Whistler when I was 7 or 8, and something just clicked. There was something about the freedom and thrill of riding through the forest with my friends that had me hooked. Unlike most kids, I actually enjoyed the challenge of climbing uphill. I was a super competitive kid, so it didn’t take long before I started entering local races—and I haven’t looked back since! |
What does the future of cycling look like to youhat does the future of cycling look like to you? | - Equal opportunities and pay for men and women (all sports, not just cycling) |
What do you wish you knew when you were starting out as a cyclist? | The importance of chamois cream. |
Is there a woman in your life who has played an important role in you cycling journey? | My mom, I grew up watching her race local cycling events like the Test Of Metal and the GranFondo and thought it was super cool and hardcore. Today, and everyday, I am inspired by her incredible work ethic, professionalism, intelligence, and strength within her male-dominated professional career. |
Who inspires you? | My coach, Catharine Pendrel, is a huge inspiration and role model in my life. Her love for mtn biking is contagious and her longevity in the sport continues to impress me. Plus she became an Olympian for the 4th time as a new mom which is pretty badass. And yet, with all her accomplishments she remains one of the most down-to-earth and humble people I know. Jenny Risveds, because she is unapologetically herself, and her comeback after suffering with depression was inspiring. Jessie Diggins for her outspokenness/advocacy on eating disorders and her involvement with Protect Our Winters. |
What have been the biggest barriers for you so far in your cycling journey, and how have you navigated/ overcome them? | When I was 12 I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I was not in a healthy place mentally and it was impacting all aspects of my life. I was super fortunate to have parents and professionals I could trust and talk to. My biggest advice for those suffering with mental health is to TALK! I can't stress this enough, reach out to a trusted professional, a parent/guardian, a friend, or a neighbor and start your pathway to happiness. I would not be where I am today if I hadn’t asked for help. It’s OKAY to ask for help. |
