Liv Racing Collective athlete Lisa Tertsch claimed her first ever World Triathlon Championship Series podium in Hamburg, Germany over the weekend. A strong performance through the swim, bike and run landed her in third place.

The sprint-distance triathlon in Hamburg, Germany drew some of the world’s top women triathletes to compete on Saturday. Starting with a 750m swim in Binnenalster lake, the athletes had to navigate a 40m tunnel section under a pedestrian bridge before exiting to the first transition. Tertsch followed the lead group closely out of the water and into the bike portion of the race. Aboard the Langma, Tertsch navigated the flat, technical course six times for a total of 21km. None of the athlete’s breakaway attempts went clear and Tertsch headed into the second transition with a large group. With a strong run, Tertsch moved into third and held her position to cross the finish line in a podium position.

“I definitely did not expect that,” said Tertsch. “I was just like I am going to go in, try hard and give my best, but I didn’t think my best would be good enough for third, so I am really, really happy. The entire run course was amazing. There were so many people around the course who were cheering for me, that was incredible.”
