Enduro mountain bike racing got back underway over the weekend with the California Enduro Series at China Peak Resort. After Isabella Naughton’s U21 win at the second round of the North American Enduro Series in Windrock, TN earlier this year, racing was put on hold due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Naughton proved she was still in top form after the three-month break from racing, scoring a third-place finish in the pro women’s category.

The California Enduro Series kicked off the 2020 race season Saturday. After postponing the series’ first races due to restrictions surrounding the global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, organizers announced the China Peak Enduro would be held as scheduled following COVID-19 protocols.

Eager to get back between the tape, Liv Racing’s Isabella Naughton traveled to Lakeshore, California for the China Peak Enduro, also an Enduro World Series Qualifier race. The course included five stages surrounding the bike park with loose, rocky, technical terrain at an altitude of over 8,000 feet. After a crash on one stage cost her precious time, Naughton came back strong to win the final stage and secure a third-place finish overall.

“It felt so nice to be back racing bikes again,” said Naughton. “You don’t realize what you take for granted until you can’t do it. China Peak was a super fun first race back, with a good combination of rocky, technical, and physical stages. I was super excited to see how my riding has progressed! I was sitting second most of the day until I had a decent crash that put me back to third, but then I went on to win the last stage and hold onto third in Pro Women. I’m really happy with that, am feeling super comfortable and confident on my Liv Hail, and am ready to race in Northstar in August.”
