Marianne Vos, a three-time overall winner at the Giro Rosa (2011, 2012, 2014), led the team with three stage wins, bringing her career total to 28 stage wins at the world’s most prestigious women’s stage race.
“It’s great to win even one stage of the Giro Rosa,” said Vos. “To win two it’s amazing, and to win three is incredible.”
Vos showed her all-around strength, winning on a steep climb to Assisi on Stage 3, and then sprinting to victories on flat finishes on Stages 5 and 6. The Dutch star was also in perfect position to take a fourth stage win on Stage 7 but unfortunately she crashed inside the final kilometer.
Riding her Liv Langma Advanced SL with a CADEX WheelSystem, Vos also proved the fastest in the points competition throughout nine days of racing at the Giro Rosa. The 33-year-old won the points classification for the seventh time in her career, and her stage victories also helped propel the CCC-Liv Team to the win in the teams classification.
