Marianne Vos of CCC-Liv brought her 2020 Giro Rosa victory count to three on Wednesday with another sprint finish win on stage six. Vos also scored a win on stage five. With three more stages to go, the question is: can she do it again?

Stage five and six of the Giro Rosa had similar elevation profiles and length, and the tactics which CCC-Liv used to pursue the victory similar. The squad aimed to make the climbs as difficult as possible to shatter the peloton and weed-out some of the strong sprinters. The team successfully completing their mission on Tuesday and Marianne Vos finished with an explosive reduced bunch sprint to the finish to take the win. The effort moved Vos into the lead in the points classification.

On Wednesday, CCC-Liv’s job to push the pace of the peloton was more difficult than the day before. The race was hot, fast with winding, steep terrain. Still, the team delivered a punishing pace on the unclassified climbs and reduced the bunch to around 50 riders by the time they reached the final meters of the day’s course. In the end, Vos again was in prime position to unleash her sprint and take the stage win aboard her Liv Langma Advanced SL with CADEX wheels.

"It’s incredible that the team put in so much effort and of course that everything falls into place and, yeah, we’ll try again for sure,” said Vos. “It’s great to win even one stage of the Giro Rosa, to win two it’s amazing and to win three is incredible.”
