Tessa Neefjes emerges as points leader for the Elite Women's category in the UCI Gravel World Series. In preparation for the upcoming UCI Gravel World Championships in October, points are tallied to determine the new start order - Neejfes received the top position as the series points leader for the 2023 season.
The Liv Racing Collective athlete accumulated a total of 1150 points. In every leg of the series, the winner scored 200 points followed by 180 points for second-place and 160 for third. Her achievements included first-place finishes in Denmark and Germany. She also secured second place in Canada, and third place in Valkenburg, the Netherlands. Notably, Neefjes achieved a fourth-place finish in Sweden, fifth place in Belgium, and eighth place in Roden, the Netherlands. This impressive point total placed her 290 points ahead of her closest competitor.
In addition to her success in the UCI Gravel World Series, Neefjes's season also included a third-place finish at the Dutch Gravel Championship. Next, the Netherland native heads to the European Championship on October 1st, then the highly anticipated UCI Gravel World Championship on October 7th, in the Veneto region in Italy. The race starts in Lago Le Bandie, Treviso, with much of the route running through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Prosecco Lands. The women’s route spans over 140km with an overall altitude gain of 1,660m.
