Liv AlUla Jayco team member Urška Žigart achieves an impressive feat at the Slovenian national championships, securing two national titles in two days.

Urška Žigart of Liv AlUla Jayco capped off an outstanding week at the Slovenian national championships by winning two national titles in just two days, in the southeastern town of Trebnje, Slovenia. On Friday, she claimed her fourth career TT title in the time trial championships. Building on that success, Žigart secured her first national road race victory on Sunday, finishing more than 10 minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.

The road race covered a grueling 107.5km course, and Žigart excelled on the challenging terrain, which included a steep climb. As an added obstacle, the elite women's race was combined with the junior men's category due to a limited number of participants, but this did not hinder Žigart's performance.

Reflecting on her race, Žigart said, “Today’s race was incredibly tough. Starting with the junior men, as usual, added to the challenge, and the course was especially hard this year with a nearly 2km climb at a 10% gradient. It was very selective. After the first lap, I was the only woman left in the group with the guys and I was really on the limit, so I knew I wouldn’t make it the next time around. I followed some moves to gain a bit of an advantage before the second climb."

"We got a minute at the bottom, and when the best guys from the group behind pushed again, it was perfect because I was in the front group. From there, I just tried to stay with them, and it was super hard. In the end, I finished with a huge gap. I’m really, really happy to have had the legs today to play it smart and see everything come together,” she added.

Following her victories, Žigart will return to Monaco to prepare for the upcoming Giro d’Italia Women, where she will proudly wear Slovenian national colors for the first time.
