After a year free of mechanicals and injury, Rae Morrison finished off her Enduro World Series season with a sixth place in Zermatt, Switzerland, finishing eighth in the overall.

The Enduro World Series brought the eighth and final race of the season to a new venue for 2019 in Zermatt, Switzerland. Stunning views of the Swiss Alps punctuated by the Matterhorn flooded social media for the week prior to the race and provided a fittingly epic backdrop for this year’s finale. With 5 stages, 34 miles and 14,687 feet of vertical descent, the trails in Zermatt were both technically challenging and a physical test for the riders. Toping out at just over 10,000 feet above sea level, breathing and exhaustion would both play a role in the results.

Liv Racing enduro athlete Rae Morrison used those challenges to her advantage, capitalizing on Zermatt’s long and rocky stages to power to a fifth-place finish on the first stage and fourth place on stage 3. Riding consistently through the other stages led to her score her second sixth place EWS finish in 2019 aboard her Hail Advanced.

“What a race and what a season,” said Morrison. “Stoked to finish the final race on a high with a sixth-place in the stunning Swiss Alps.”

In addition to her finish this weekend in Switzerland, Morrison had four other top-10 performances in 2019, including sixth in Whistler, eighth in Val Di Fassa, ninth in Tasmania, and ninth in Rotorua.

Teammate Isabella Naughton finished fifth overall in the U21 category after securing seventh in Zermatt. Despite being unable to attend the last race of the season due to injury, Leonie Picton finished 25th in the overall EWS rankings.
