Tammy Ross

I started cycling in 2020 (during Covid) as a way to get healthier, my husband is a cyclist and saw all the neat coffee shops he was visiting on his rides. This was something that I wanted too! I started training on the trainer and on the road around Richmond, my goal at the time was to be able to ride 50km!!! I found cycling absolutely terrifying at the beginning from clipping in and out, riding in traffic, keeping up with other riders. I tried finding groups and communities to learn from that kind of fit with my fitness and experience level but found them intimidating, even the women only clubs and communities were too far away to join. There was nothing in my community. Slowly, I started riding with more experienced riders that were so patient with me and my confidence increased every week as I rode farther and faster, now riding 100km is just a regular ride!!! I have found good friends, community and health through cycling and I want other women to see that they can have that too!

Favorite bikeEnviLiv so far and it's perfect for riding in my community.
Favorite place to rideMy favourite place to ride is to Whistler during the RBC GranFondo. I enjoy the views, love the closed roads and the celebration at the end makes this event a memorable experience!
Must-have cycling accessoryIt's definitely my bike computer to track all the places that I have been lucky to ride to!
When I am not ridingMom to two grown kids and two dogs including my other favourite exercise, weight training!
Life GoalMy life goal is to be able to ride my bike for as long as possible and get more women on bikes at the same time.
What I rideIt's definitely road riding as it gets me to the coffee stops much faster although I do enjoy riding on gravel as a fun way to cross train :)
