Darlene Marshall

I won a bicycle in 2012. As an adult, I hadn't been on a bike since childhood. I took my new bike out maybe a couple of times a year but it was a bit too big for me. In 2015 I bought my first Liv bike from Hub Cycle in Truro, NS and having a good bike that was my size made all the difference in the world!  I was hooked! It was a Liv Rove and I loved it! 2 years later I bought a Liv Thrive and I think this was my favorite bike. But I really wanted to expand my biking and try mountain biking. As a 61 year old, I was starting to find I couldn't keep up with my younger friends and I hated the hills. So my first mountain bike was an Embolden E+. I fell in love with this bike and having that little bit of power put the fun back into biking for me! I now have the Intrigue X Advanced E+ Elite 2 that I bought in 2024 in the blurple color and am having so much fun! Liv bikes haves certainly played a huge part in getting me hooked on cycling! I want to get back into more gravel/city cycling as well as continuing with the mountain biking.

Favorite bikeIt's hard to pick just one! But I would have to say it was my 2016 Liv Thrive Comax 1. It was my first road bike and I was amazed at how light it was. I loved taking it out and feeling like I was gliding along the road!
Favorite place to rideThe Railyard Mountain Bike park in Truro. NS. Being new to mountain biking, The Railyard has such fun beginner green trails. I can go there by myself and spend all afternoon just riding these trails!
Must-have cycling accessoryMy Liv Helmet. It is the most important accessory! And I love that Liv is committed to making their helmets extra safe. Hopefully I will never have an accident on my bike but, if I do, I have confidence that my Liv helmet will help keep my head safe.
When I am not ridingHiking, line-dancing, strength training, yoga, zumba, jigsaw puzzles.
Life GoalMy life goal since retiring, is to feel joy, laugh and have fun each and every day. There is always laughter and joy when on a bike ride with friends. I want to always have that on my cycling adventures!
What I rideMy favorite bike discipline is gravel riding. I love cycling along a gravel trail or road without worrying too much about traffic. It really is very relaxing and so good for the soul!
